Some of the previous comments are valid and some I would have to disagree with. I have the 12 cell battery and consistently get 5 to 5-1/2 hours on a charge. That is doing normal work in the power save mode. I used it on an airplane on a long flight and got to watch 2 DVDs off of one charge. It does get hot on the lap, however, I think that is an AMD issue, not necessarily HP. It comes with the territory. I've had it for a year and a half and I still love it. My only wish is that the battery lasted longer. I can get about two hours out of it if I'm lucky. The computer does get warm after running it for awhile, but not uncomfortably hot. My fan is not loud. I bought it for speed and I am completely satisfied with the speed.
